At Mud Hut Pottery Studio, we believe creativity should feel like an escape. Located in the heart of Riverside, CA, our full-service pottery studio welcomes beginners, hobbyists, and seasoned artists alike.
We offer hands-on pottery wheel and hand-building classes, along with paint-your-own pottery (PYOP) experiences that let you design something uniquely yours. Beyond classes, Mud Hut is a space for connection—whether through memberships, private events, birthday parties, or team-building workshops.

We offer a wide range of options here at Mud Hut Studio, from one-day pottery wheel and hand-building classes to memberships, team building, and private events. If you do not want to get your hands dirty but like to create, we have a wide range of premade pottery pieces for you to glaze (paint).
Try the pottery wheel in a single visit. Our beginner-friendly 90-minute wheel classes run seven days a week in Riverside, with an instructor guiding you from centering your first ball of clay to shaping a piece you will actually use. Classes are $50 per person, or $40 for Happy Hour Wheel, Monday through Thursday.
Team Building & Private Parties:
Celebrate in our dedicated private event studio, just steps from the main studio, with room for up to 30 guests. Choose handbuilding with clay or paint your own pottery for birthdays, showers, team building, and girls' nights starting as low as $400.
No wheel, no pressure, just your hands and a slab of clay. Our handbuilding workshops rotate with the seasons, so there is always something new to make. Favorites include Coffee and Clay, ramen bowls, and matcha sets, alongside seasonal projects you will only find that time of year. Most workshops are $50 per person and run 90 minutes. Family classes for ages 5 and up are $40.
Ready to make pottery a regular practice? Our 24/7 studio membership gives you round-the-clock access to wheels, tools, glazes and workspace so you can create on your own schedule. Memberships are $225 and include all firings. Perfect for anyone who has taken a class and wants to keep going.

Where can I take pottery classes in the Inland Empire, CA?

Mud Hut Pottery Studio is located at 9900 Indiana Ave, Unit 5 in Riverside, California, just off the 91 Freeway. We offer beginner pottery wheel classes, handbuilding workshops, walk-in paint your own pottery, date nights, family classes, and private events for the Riverside and Inland Empire community.
Do I need experience to take a pottery class?

No experience is needed for any of our classes. Every session is beginner friendly and led by an instructor who walks you through each step. Most of our students are trying pottery for the very first time.
Do you offer walk-in pottery activities?

Yes. Paint Your Own Pottery (PYOP) is our only walk-in option and requires no reservation. PYOP is available 11am to 5pm on Sundays and 11am to 7pm the rest of the week. All other classes must be booked in advance through our online scheduler.
Do I need to book pottery classes in advance?

Yes. All wheel, handbuilding, and specialty classes require advance booking, and classes often fill up weeks ahead. You can book any class at MudHutPotteryRiverside.as.me. Paint Your Own Pottery is the only walk-in option.

How much do pottery classes cost at Mud Hut?

Our 90-minute Beginner Pottery Wheel class is $50 per person and offered seven days a week. Happy Hour Pottery Wheel is $40 per person, Monday through Thursday. Our 2-hour Beginner Wheel and Painting class is $75, and weekend handbuilding workshops are $50 per person.
What is Coffee and Clay?

Coffee and Clay is a 90-minute handbuilding class where you sculpt your own mug from slab clay while sipping a specialty drink from Clayfeine, our in-studio coffee cart. Classes run Saturdays at 11am and Sundays at 11am and 1:30pm for $50 per person. It is one of the easiest and least messy ways to try pottery for the first time.
Do you have pottery classes for kids and families?

Yes. Our Mixed Age Family Handbuilding class welcomes ages 5 through adult on Tuesdays at 1pm and Saturdays at 1:30pm for $40 per person. We also host Kids Pottery Painting and Story on Tuesdays for $20, a 45-minute session for all ages.
Do you offer date night pottery classes?

Yes. Date Night is $100 per couple, with both wheel and handbuilding classes on Fridays at 7:30 pm or Saturdays at 6:30pm. It is one of the most popular date night ideas in Riverside, so we recommend booking early.

What do I need to do to prepare for my pottery class?

Come ready to get your hands in clay. Tie back long hair, trim long nails, and wear clothes you do not mind getting a little muddy. Please arrive five minutes early so we can start on time. Guests arriving more than 15 minutes late cannot be admitted to class, since each session builds step by step from the start.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?

We offer refunds or rescheduling for cancellations made at least 24 hours before your class. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before class are not eligible for a refund or reschedule. To change your booking, use the link in your confirmation email or contact us at hello@mudhutpotterystudio.com.
When can I pick up my finished pottery?

Finished pieces are ready for pickup 4 to 6 weeks after your class. Your work needs time to dry, be fired in the kiln, glazed, and fired again. We will notify you by text message when your piece is ready. Save our number, 951-594-5757, in your contacts so you do not miss our message. If you do not hear from us in 6 weeks, feel free to call or text us.
Is the pottery food safe?

Yes. Pieces made in our classes are stoneware and are dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe once glazed and fired.

Yes. Mud Hut hosts team-building events in our private event studio for up to 30 guests, with hand-building or paint-your-own pottery options. Working with clay gets everyone off their laptops and creating side by side, which makes it one of the most memorable team-building activities in the Inland Empire. Do you offer school field trips?

Yes. We host school field trips at our Riverside studio, or we can bring the pottery experience to your school anywhere in Southern California. Can I book a private pottery party in Riverside?
